Ten Transforming Affirmations

A SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE FOR RENEWING YOUR MIND AND TRANSFORMING YOUR LIFE

As you know, I am big on taking truth through the brain over and over again to encourage mental renewal.  My enthusiasm for this principle comes from two things.

First, a reading of Romans 12:2, which says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you have already heard me work this passage backward:

  • We can be living proof of the fact that God’s will is good and acceptable and perfect.
  • But only if we are transformed.
  • And, to be transformed we must have our minds renewed.

Reading spiritual affirmations daily helps renew the mind, which Romans 12:2 says will help transform our lives.

Second, I am enthusiastic about this principle because I have seen it work so powerfully in my own life.  I have a series of affirmations that I review nearly every day and have done so for years.  It has been a life-changing discipline for me, and I discover that if – in a particularly busy season – I neglect reading these affirmations for any length of time, they begin to lose their power. So, I have committed to reviewing them on a regular basis.

Here are the Ten Transforming Affirmations that I review daily:

  1. I honor Christ in all I think, say and do.
  2. I trust the Lord to protect and provide for me so that I don’t have to try to protect and provide for myself.
  3. I dedicate myself to personal transformation through the renewing of my mind.
  4. I resist temptation quickly, knowing that it only pollutes my integrity and damages my character.
  5. I am complete in Christ, and am able to give to others out of my security and abundance rather than trying to get anything from them.
  6. I step outside the bubble of life’s circumstances and view things with an objective and eternal perspective.
  7. I accept that everything is a choice, and I choose to “be” and “do” what is right in Jesus’ eyes.
  8. I take every negative thing in my life as an opportunity to grow stronger spiritually.
  9. I accept everything as having its own significance, as well as being preparation for what is next.
  10. I leave behind small attitudes, values and behavior, and rise to great ones.

I find it helpful to link these affirmations with pictures that capture my interest and reinforce the truth of the affirmation.

If you’d like to use these affirmations in your own spiritual disciplines for renewing your mind and transforming your life, I’ve made the PDF of these Ten Transforming Affirmations, with the pictures that I use, available in a link below. I hope that you will find them as helpful as I do.
